Maria Lucas

Maria Lucas is the creator of the Tía-Verse^TM, a world of tenderness, imagination, and emotional belonging.

She is a proud aunt, dog mom, and bilingual author who writes stories inspired by the quiet moments that stay with us.

2025 North Street Book Prize Finalist

Her work supports children in their emotional growth while offering the grown-ups around them a meaningful way in.

Her mission is simple.

To help children feel seen.

And help the people who love them feel remembered.

Before there were drawings, there was a feeling.

The illustrations are created by Uğur Ergül, an artist based in Izmir, Turkey, whose background in art and child psychology guides the way he draws not just images, but relationships.
